ATOLL is looking forward to the second week! 

After a fantastic first week, the ATOLL Festival kicked off its second week successfully with two sold-out performances by the company “!UKBUM!” at the ZKM Media Theater. More than 2,000 people attended the festival’s opening night to see the powerful production of the circus ballet “KA-IN” by the Moroccan Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger. Jef Everaert & Marica Marinoni also left a stunning impression with their Cyr duo “In Difference,” and the group MovedByMatter created extraordinary imagery with their a cappella singing and their homage to the mystics of past centuries, drawing on the artistic tradition of the Zopfhang. The performances of the whimsical and entertaining circus diptych “Symbiosis” and the Karlsruhe-based Compagnie 931 were completely sold out. 

Well over 3,000 people attended last Sunday’s ATOLL Children’s and Family Day—which featured entirely free performances and hands-on activities—especially around the TOLLHAUS and in Otto -Dullenkopf Park, where the outstanding high-wire artist La Corcoles kicked off this year’s focus on the guest region of Catalonia—which is taking place primarily during the festival’s second week.

The ATOLL Festival continues through Sunday, September 27, though a number of events are already sold out. Tickets are currently still available for the show “Bamboo” by the British NoFit State Circus (September 24), for Julian Vogel’s “Ceramic Circus” (September 23 and 24), for the world premiere of the show “Secrets” by the Catalan Compañia de Circo eia (September 25–27), and for the German premiere of the brand-new show “People” by circus visionary Claudio Stellato (September 25 and 26).
