ATOLL Festival - Enchant and touch by surprise


Since the late 1980s, developments in contemporary circus have persistently been represented in the programme of he cultural center TOLLHAUS in Karlsruhe.

In 2016, the TOLLHAUS merged this commitment with the ATOLL Festival, which has since been held annually in September. It quickly gained the Europe-wide reputation of being as one of the first and largest festivals dedicated to contemporary circus in Germany.

First and foremost, ATOLL sees itself as a festival for the general public. It aims to acquaint people with the multifaceted and fascinating possibilities and forms of contemporary circus. People from the Karlsruhe region, but also a broad audience from near and far. , In doing so, it claims to be as diverse as it is on the pulse of the latest and young creations.

Together for Circus

With the ATOLL Festival, the TOLLHAUS has become a networking partner in the contemporary circus scene throughout Europe and is also a member of the European Circostrada network and the sponsoring group of the circusnext funding program. It is also a driving force in national and regional networks as well as in the creation alliance ZirkusOn. This makes the festival a regular rendzvous for professionals and actors from Germany and abroad.
